Building Your Own Community: MCLife Dallas

Are you ready to dive on in and learn more about how you can be working at building your own community here in MCLife Dallas!? We want to give you the best tools for fostering meaningful relationships with those around you. Check out these tips and tricks for building your community and let us know in the comments how you are getting involved and supporting the sense of community in your complex!

Put Yourself Out There

These last few years have tested us all in new ways both mentally and physically. Now that it is safer for us to be around people again it’s nice to know that you have some options right here in your MCLife Community for gathering, spending time together, and meeting new people! Take advantage of those monthly gatherings and be on the lookout for other community members that you can engage and interact with! Say hello! Introduce yourself to your neighbors! Join in the fun that you see happening in shared spaces!

You don’t have to be a party goer or a really adventurous person to meet the people around you, in fact sometimes it’s nice to find and meet people while doing the things YOU enjoy. It gives you a nice foundation of common ground!

Introduce Yourself

The easiest way to get started in building your community is to introduce yourself to new people. “Hi, my name is…” goes a long way at breaking the ice and if you add in some information about yourself and ask the strangers you meet about their lives…pretty soon they won’t be a stranger! Search for people in groups online to find local friends and community members who are doing things you already do every day like walking your dog or going to the gym! It’s never a bad time to meet someone new who already has something in common with you!

Sharing Is Caring

We don’t teach this to kids for no reason…sharing is a great way to show you care and it’s also a great way to meet new people. Instead of doing things on your own, share in the fun! Share something about yourself after you introduce yourself, share some drinks or food around the grill or at the pool, share your time or talents. Building your community doesn’t have to be tough…it can be as fun as sitting around the pool sharing stories and drinks!

Offer To Help

Be helpful! This is a great way to enrich your community. Is there a skill, side hustle, work opportunity, or just some free time in your schedule that you could use to help someone else? Make it happen! These are small but meaningful additions to your community that will help it grow and thrive while also letting you interact with others and make a difference in someone else’s life!

Join In!

The long and short of it is just that. You have to join in if you want to connect and make a difference in building your community. Joining in doesn’t have to mean rowdy partying or getting out of your comfort zone. It can be as easy to looking for someone to join you on a task that you already do every day like walking your dog or going for a stroll or swimming laps at the pool!

Make sure to follow along on social media for updates about the events, timing, etc.

At the end of the day, as with most things in life, you are only going to get out of something what you are willing to put in. With a little effort and perhaps some fun, you’ll be connecting with new people, making changes, and impacting your overall community more than you know!

Let us know in the comments what your favorite way to meet new people and make new friends is so everyone can join in the fun!
