Plano is no stranger to its share of great schools. In fact, GreatSchools has award Plano with an 8 out of 10 rating based on its schools test results. There is certainly no shortage of educational institutions around the Plano area, many of which are located conveniently nearby The Place at Harvestree.

So, get ready, pack the kids’ backpacks and lace up their shoes, because it is time to go back to class. Here are some of Plano’s most recognized districts and schools.

Plano Independent School District

Plano Independent School District is an award-winning district that employs over 6,000 staff members and faculty across its 72 schools that support more than 54,000 students. This district serves Collin County and the residents of Plano, Dallas, Richardson and parts of Parker, Allen and Murphy. New student registration will be taking place in late July throughout the month of August.

Prestonwood Christian Academy

This christian liberal arts academy is open to preschool, kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school students. Established in 1997, Prestonwood Christian Academy and its staff works to prepare students in the Plano community for college and lucrative careers in adulthood though a challenging curriculum and hands-on teaching.

Back to School Day will be taking place on August 14 and the first day of School at Prestonwood Christian Academy is on August 16.

Prince of Peace Catholic School

This coed school has 810 students and is open to preschool, kindergarten, elementary and middle school-aged students. Founded in 1991, Prince of Peace Catholic School is part of the Catholic School System of the Diocese of Dallas and is accredited by The Texas Catholic Conference Education Department and is approved by the Texas Education Agency.

The Plano school has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence on two occasions, the most recent in 2016, which makes it one of only 50 private schools across the country to receive the recognition.

The first day of school is on August 15. Back to school nights and social events will be taking place through the month of August.
