One of my favorite things to do on weekends is to round up family or friends and fill up on brunch. Food has a way of bringing people together and starting your day with a big breakfast, surrounded with people you enjoy, is a great way to start. So why not go for brunch in Plano this weekend? Must Try: Let’s be honest, there is so much good food at Whiskey Cake, it is nearly impossible to limit our must try to 1-2 items. The Chicken and Waffles is honestly incredible: bacon laced belgium waffle, crispy chicken tenders, sunny side up eggs, house sausage gravy. The Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict is out of this word: slow roasted pulled pork, local sunny side up eggs, toasted baguette, farmhouse tomato, smoked chili hollandaise, seasonal fruit. You should also get an order of the Cheddar & Jalapeño Drop Biscuits (scratch biscuits, served with house sausage gravy).
2. Bread Winners Café and Bakery
Where: 4021 Preston Rd, Plano, TX 75093
Must Try: One of our favorite dishes is Julio’s Tacos, the come served with: two flour tortillas, grilled chicken, onion, peppers, avocado, eggs, queso and crispy tortilla strips with brunch potatoes and salsa on the side. If you are a fan of chicken and waffles, you have to try out their version: jalapeno bacon cheddar waffles, with crispy chicken, creamy gravy, henry’s hot sauce and maple syrup. You can never go wrong with the classic dish of biscuits and gravy.
3. Main St. Bakery and Bistro
Where: 7200 Bishop Rd Ste D-11 Plano, TX 75024
Must Try: If you have a sweet tooth, you should order the Banana Foster Brioche French Toast with fresh bananas flambee on rum and salted caramel. It is sugary, sweet and out of this world. The Le Parisien Is also delicious and comes with: scrambled eggs, apple wood bacon, with a flaky good croissant, jam, butter, and a side of breakfast potatoes. The Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict is also a classic dish!
4. Little Gus Café
Where: 6905 Coit Rd Plano, TX 75025
Must Try: Little Gus Cafe is one of of the best brunch spots around Plano Texas because of its classic diner food. We love the Eggs Santa Fe: 3 Scrambled eggs with jalapeno sausage. Topped with cheese & fresh avocado. Served with pan fries, sour cream, salsa & tortillas. The Gyro Omelet (Gyro meat, tomato, onion & feta cheese) is also a delicious dish. If you’re looking for some good old comfort food, go for the chicken fried steak and eggs.
5. Poor Richard’s Café
Where: 2442 K Ave Plano, TX 75074
Must Try: For a classic diner experience order the Southern Breakfast: 2 eggs with meat, hog biscuits with sausage gravy and a choice of grits, home fries or tomatoes. The Pulled Pork Omelet (smoky pork and melted cheddar covered with barbecue sauce) is a great breakfast dish. You can’t go wrong with a Spinach Bacon Omelet or a Wester Omelet (sautéed onions, bell peppers, ham and cheese).
