Beat the heat this summer at these 10 Dallas-area waterparks.
1. Hawaiian Falls
Where: 4400 Paige Rd, The Colony
With attractions that range from serene to extreme, Hawaiian Falls at The Colony offers fun experiences for the entire family. Grab a tube and hit Breaker Bay, the park’s wave pool or take a trip down the Torpedo, an aptly named slide at the park. Mom and dad can even rent out a cabana for the day at Hawaiian Falls.
2. Bahama Beach
Where: 1895 Campfire Circle
Do you have a need for speed? Thrill seekers will love the Riptide Slide or Bahama Bullet at Bahama Beach. Searching for a thrill that’s a bit slower? Visitors can float the Calypso Cooler, the Bahama Beach lazy river that winds throughout the waterpark.
3. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor
Where: 1800 E Lamar Blvd, Arlington
This cool destination is North Texas’ largest water park, as it features over 50-acres of slides, rides and an impressive 1 million-gallon wave pool.
4. Great Wolf Lodge
Where: 100 Great Wolf Dr, Grapevine
Take a drive out to Grapevine and dive into one of Great Wolf Lodge’s on-site water attractions. From the Howlin’ Tornado, a funnel slide thrill ride, and Alberta Falls, a four-story slide, to Fort McKenzie for the little ones, there’s plenty of opportunity for the entire family to make a splash.
5. Hawaiian Falls Mansfield
Where: 590 Heritage Pkwy
Grab a tube and hit the Kona Kooler Lazy River. Or, take a trip down a towering slide at Hawaiian Falls Mansfield. The waterpark offers over 14-acres of fun with thrilling park attractions, like 14 slides, and interactive waterpark features like pulleys, water buckets and geysers.
6. NRH2O Family Water Park
Where: 9001 Boulevard 26, Richland Hills
Located in the suburbs of Fort Worth, Richland Hills to be precise, the NRH20 Family Water Park is exactly what its name implies. This family-oriented waterpark features a wave pool, endless lazy river, a “tadpole” pool for the little ones in your family and slides by the name of “Viper” and “Double Dipper” for the adventure seekers.
7. Rowlett Wet Zone
Where: 5304 Main St, Rowlett
This city-owned waterpark features slides, playground pools and opportunities for swim lessons and aerobics, too. It might not be the biggest waterpark in the area but it’s a great spot to cool off from the summertime heat.
8. Bachman Indoor Pool
Where: 2750 Bachman Dr
Escape the heat this summer at Dallas’ Bachman Indoor Pool. As one of the city’s best kept secret, this community pool located on the shores of Bachman Lake is open to the public and offers a variety of swim and fitness classes for both children and adults.
9. Heights Family Aquatic Center
Where: 709 W Arapaho Rd, Richardson
This community pool is designed for all ages as it offers a tot pool for small children, a vortex and splash features for older kids and a lap pool for those who want to swim a few rounds in a lane. The pool also offers swim lessons taught by certified instructors.
10. Hawaiian Falls Garland
Where: 4550 N Garland Ave, Garland
This 12-acre waterpark was the first Hawaiian Falls waterpark built in Texas. But don’t let that fool you. It continues to grow and grow each year. Families can relax along the lazy river, wipe out on the Waikiki Wipeout Body Slide, or explore the Keiki Kove fortress with its rope ladders thousand-gallon bucket dump and geysers. Little swimmers can also dip their toes in at Waikiki Beach, a shallow area designed for small children.
