There is no reason the kids should be shouting “I’m bored!” this month. There are plenty of events and activities happening around the Dallas area that are great for families, from a day at the museum or zoo to baking cupcakes and more. Here are some events to keep the entire family busy this February.

Zip Line Day

Where: Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Pl., Mckinney
When: February 1 and 18
Families and thrill seekers can try something new and exciting this month at the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary. On two separate occasions, February 1 and February 18, visitors to the wildlife sanctuary can suit up and take a ride down the zipline. Kids must be at least 10-years-old and able to fit into the harness properly to take a ride on the zipline. Preregistration is required.

Family Zoo Adventures: Totally Texas

Where: Dallas Zoo, 650 S. R.L. Thornton Fwy.
When: February 4
Families are invited to take a special Zoo tour during this monthly event series at the Dallas Zoo. This month Zoo-goers can expect to learn about wildlife that is native and found right here in Texas. The saturday program includes animal encounters and engaging activity stations. Admission is $15 per person for Zoo members and $20 for non-members. Learn more or register online by visiting the Dallas Zoo website.

First Tuesday at the DMA

Where: Dallas Museum of Art, 1717 N. Harwood St.
When: February 7
This free event, happening February 7 from 11am to 2pm at the DMA, includes themed art activities, performances, story readings, and gallery activities that are all designed for kids under 5, however, all ages are welcome.  To learn more about programs for children and families visit the DMA website.

Valentine’s Battle Cupcake at Taste Buds Kitchen

When: February 5
It’s a cook-off, family-style at Taste Buds Kitchen. Kids ages 10 and up, and their families, are invited to Taste Buds Kitchen’s cupcake workshop, where culinary creativity will be put to the test. Chefs will learn how to use unique ingredients and craft their very own cupcake recipe. After the baking is finished, TBK will have its own panel of guest judges to determine which cupcake is best. Dallas Blooms: Flower Power

When: February 25 – April 9
The Southwest’s largest spring floral festival, Dallas Blooms, is back again this year. And it might be just bigger, and more beautiful, than ever before. Round up the entire family and check out the garden between February 25 and April 9 to see more than 500,000 spring blooming bulbs and fun, decorated VW bugs. The garden will also host a series of different activities throughout the spring event. Admission is $15.
