Spring break is here again and that means you’ve got plenty of time to kill. Keep the kids busy with these Dallas-area activities.
1. Stop and smell the flowers at Dallas Blooms
Enjoy the colors of spring flowers at Dallas Blooms. Happening at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, Dallas Blooms is the largest floral festival in the Southwest with more than 500,000 spring bulbs blooming. The event is happening daily from 10am to 9pm. Admission for children under 12 is $10, adult admission is $15.
2. See Cirque du Soleil Kurios
Catch Cirque du Soleil Kurios in Grand Prairie, just minutes from Downtown Dallas. The story revolves around an inventor who seeks to reinvent the world around him. Admission is $25 and up.
3. Jump around at Cosmic Jump
Expend some energy and jump around at Cosmic Jump, and indoor trampoline park located in Allen, Texas. At night kids can glow under the blacklights for a fun nighttime experience with DJs and glow-in-the-dark jewelry. Admission for kids ages 8 and older is $12 plus tax per hour.
4. Spring break at the Dallas Theater Center
The Dallas Theater Center is hosting acting, playwriting and moving classes designed for for middle school-aged kids. The training takes place across the entire week. But it’s not too late to register or sign up. Parents should reach out to chris.ramirez@dallastheatercenter.org for more details.
5. Send the kids to the zoo
Kids who are Pre K through Grade 5 are all welcome to explore and learn something new at the Dallas Zoo as part of the zoo’s spring camp series. Spring break campers will learn about unique animal habitats found around the world and each single day camp will feature crafts, a zoo tour, games and even animal encounters. Registration is now open and single day camp costs start out at $45.
6. Care for animals at SPCA of Texas
Young animal lovers will have the opportunity to spend a few days interacting and learning about animals and the animal care centers with the SPCA of Texas. Spring camp sessions are designed for kids ages 8 to 11 and will be happening Monday through Wednesday from 9am to 3pm during the week of spring break. The camp fee is $170 and it includes a t-shirt. Parents can register their kiddos online.
7. Drama classes at North Texas Performing Arts
Children are encouraged to learn, dance, and move in creative ways as part of a fun-filled musical inspired by the Dreamworks film Madagascar. Tuition for the drama classes are $110 or $170 for both the therapeutic classes and creative movement classes. For more information visit the North Texas Performing Arts website.
8. Spend spring break at DMA
Kids can enjoy a fun-filled spring break with art making activities, story times, family gallery tours, and pop-ups at DMA. All spring break programs are free during the week of March 14-17.
9. Stay up late at the Nasher
Stay up until midnight at the Nasher’s free event on Friday, March 17. Bring the entire family, some blankets and be prepared to enjoy live music, and film screenings in the Nasher garden, including Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. There will also be social media scavenger hunts and exhibitions will be able to be accessed free of charge.
10. Climb high at Summit Climbing in Carrollton
Adventurous kiddos will learn how to climb during Summit Climbing’s week-long spring break camp. Kids will challenge themselves with rope climbing activities, bouldering activities, tag and traverse and even blindfolded climbing. But don’t worry mom, there will be plenty of adult supervision. Admission for the week-long camp is $99.
